Transparent fees. No surprises, ever.

Investing in your mental health is one of the most meaningful things you can do for yourself — and I believe you deserve to know exactly what that investment looks like before you take the first step. Everything you need is right here.

WHY PRIVATE PAY?

More personalized care, on your terms

I choose to work as a private-pay practice because it allows me to give you the level of care you deserve — without insurance companies dictating session length, how often we meet, or how I approach your treatment. Your healing isn't something that should be managed by a third party. This model keeps our work together focused entirely on you.

While I don't bill insurance directly, I provide a detailed superbill after each session that you can submit to your insurance company for potential reimbursement if you have out-of-network benefits. Many clients are surprised by how much their insurance will cover.

Using your insurance?

How out-of-network reimbursement works

I'm an out-of-network provider, which means I don't bill your insurance directly. But if your plan includes out-of-network mental health benefits, you may be able to get a significant portion of your session fees reimbursed. Here's exactly how it works:

Step 1 - You pay at each session

Payment is collected at the time of service by credit card, cash, check, or Zelle.

Step 2 - I provide a superbill

After each session I give you a detailed superbill — a receipt with all the billing codes your insurance needs.

Step 3 - You submit to insurance

You send the superbill to your insurance company directly and they reimburse you based on your out-of-network benefits.

Step 4 - You receive reimbursement

Reimbursement rates vary by plan. Many clients recover a meaningful portion of their session fees — often more than they expected.

"Not sure if you have out-of-network benefits? Call the member services number on the back of your insurance card and ask. It takes about 10 minutes and could save you significantly."

QUESTIONS TO ASK YOUR INSURANCE PROVIDER

When you call, here's exactly what to ask — save this list before you dial:

  • Do I have out-of-network mental health benefits?
  • Do I have a deductible? If so, what is it and has it been met for this year?
  • How many therapy sessions are covered per year?
  • Does my plan cover CPT code 90837 (55-minute session)? Or CPT code 90834 (45-minute session)?
  • What is my reimbursement rate or coinsurance percentage for out-of-network providers?
  • Is prior authorization required from my primary care physician?
  • Is Tara Arhakos, M.S., L.P.C., N.C.C. considered an in-network or out-of-network provider?

Your right to a Good Faith Estimate

GOOD FAITH ESTIMATE

If you are paying out-of-pocket and do not plan to use insurance reimbursement, you have the right to request a Good Faith Estimate before beginning services. This written estimate outlines the expected costs of your therapy so you can make a fully informed decision. Just ask — I'm happy to provide one at any time.

CANCELLATION POLICY

24-hour notice required

I understand that life happens — and I genuinely mean that. If you need to cancel or reschedule, please give at least 24 hours' notice so I can offer that time to another client who may need it. Cancellations with less than 24 hours' notice or missed sessions without notice will be charged at the full session rate. This policy applies to all session types.
