Somatic & Body-Based Sessions

Your body has been holding the story. These sessions help you release it.

Somatic and body-based sessions are designed for women whose anxiety, depression, and trauma live not just in the mind—but in the body. Especially during perimenopause and postmenopause, when the nervous system is already under strain, healing through the body is often what talk therapy alone cannot reach.

WHY THE BODY MATTERS

Trauma doesn't just live in memory—it lives in muscle, breath, and bone

When the nervous system experiences trauma, it doesn't always fully return to rest. Muscles hold tension. Breathing stays shallow. Parts of the body go quiet—a protective numbness that can persist for years. Over time, this stored stress can surface as chronic pain, fatigue, emotional reactivity, or a persistent sense of disconnection from yourself.

For women in perimenopause and postmenopause, hormonal shifts can intensify this experience—amplifying anxiety, disrupting sleep, and making long-held patterns feel suddenly louder. Somatic and body-based sessions address healing at this deeper level, working with the nervous system directly rather than around it.

"Healing is possible. It starts with being present in your own body."

A personalized, body-aware experience—never clinical, always compassionate

Sessions are shaped around your needs, your nervous system, and your comfort level. There is no script. We move at your pace, and nothing is forced. Depending on what you're working through, a session may draw from any combination of the following:

Breathwork

Breathwork

Controlled, mindful breathing activates the parasympathetic nervous system—shifting the body out of survival mode and into a state where deeper processing becomes possible.

Movement & restorative postures

Movement & restorative postures

Gentle, supported movement and restorative positions that invite the body to soften and release stored stress—without intensity or performance.

Open reflection & journaling

Open reflection & journaling

Processing what surfaces in the body is as important as the release itself. Conversation and optional journaling help you integrate what emerges into your wider healing journey.

Grounding & energy practices

Grounding & energy practices

For those open to it, sessions may include grounding practices and energy-based work that support the release of blocked or stagnant emotional patterns.

Guided body-scan meditation

Guided body-scan meditation

Brings gentle, nonjudgmental attention to areas of tension or numbness, fostering a sense of safety and helping you re-inhabit parts of yourself that have felt distant.

Somatic dialogue

Somatic dialogue

Learning to recognize and name physical sensations as they arise—building the inner language you need to stay connected to your body outside of sessions.

Benefits of somatic & body-based healing

These sessions are particularly effective for women navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, and the compounding stress of midlife hormonal transitions. Over time, consistent somatic work supports:

  • Relief from chronic tension, physical stress, and the body-level symptoms of anxiety and depression
  • Greater capacity to process and move through trauma without becoming overwhelmed or retraumatized
  • Improved nervous system regulation—feeling more grounded, less reactive, more resilient day to day
  • Deeper self-awareness and the ability to recognize emotional patterns before they take over
  • A renewed sense of connection to your body—especially meaningful during perimenopause and postmenopause when the body can feel unfamiliar
  • Practical tools for staying present in your body between sessions, in everyday life
